How much does Cozy cost?

Cozy is a one-time $35 purchase, no subscription. One license covers every Mac and PC you own, and Cozy for iPhone and iPad comes with it. On its own it is $19.99 on the App Store. See Activate your license.

Do I have to pay for updates?

Every license includes one year of updates, fixes and new features alike. After that year Cozy keeps working forever, exactly as it is. If you want another year, you can renew for half the original price — a $35 license renews at $17. Renewing is optional and nothing stops working if you skip it. If you bought Cozy before this changed, your license was upgraded to a lifetime one automatically.

Where do my entries go?

Into a regular folder you choose, as plain Markdown files you can open with any app. Each entry saves its date, mood, location, and tags alongside your writing, and photos sit right next to your entries. Full details in Where your files live.

Can I sync between devices?

Cozy doesn’t run its own sync, but your journal is just a folder. Sync it with iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, or OneDrive and you’re set. See Sync across devices.

Is there a mobile version?

Yes. Cozy for iPhone and iPad is on the App Store. It’s a separate app, and it’s included with your desktop license — enter the same key under Settings → License and it unlocks, no second purchase. On its own it’s a one-time $19.99 purchase on the App Store. Android comes later. Either way it reads the same journal folder, so it stays in step through your sync service.

Does it use AI?

No, and there’s no plan to add it. Your entries are regular files on your computer. If you ever want to use an AI tool with them, you can, on your own terms.

What does Cozy send back?

Only two things, and you can switch off either one in Settings. Cozy checks for new versions so it can offer updates, and sends anonymous crash reports (no entries, ever) so problems get fixed. Both are on by default and never include your writing, but turning them off is your call.

Which platforms does Cozy run on?

macOS, Windows, iPhone, and iPad. A Linux build may follow, and Android comes later.

Can I write in other languages?

Yes. Write in any language, mix several in one entry, and right-to-left scripts like Arabic flow that way on their own. Word count handles Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other scripts that don’t put spaces between words.

What language is Cozy itself in?

English and Spanish. Cozy follows whatever language your computer is set to, menus and all, or you can pick one yourself in Settings. New entries get their dates written in the language you’re using; entries you’ve already written keep the titles they have.

The keyboard shortcuts look different on my PC

That’s expected. On macOS shortcuts use ⌘; on Windows they use Ctrl. Cozy shows the right keys for your keyboard everywhere.

My entry seems stuck “syncing” in a cloud folder

Cozy saves entries the way iCloud, Dropbox, Google Drive, and OneDrive expect, so this shouldn’t happen on current versions. If you’re on an older build, update Cozy. It also helps to let one device finish syncing before writing on another.

On Windows, iCloud Drive can sit on “Uploading” long after the files are done, usually because of a temp file an older build left in the folder. Cozy clears those on the next open. If the count still won’t move, sign out of iCloud for Windows and back in, and let it settle before you write.

I lost my license key

Use the recover a key link on Cozy’s welcome screen, enter the email you bought with, and your key is sent back to you.

Can I get a refund?

Yes. If Cozy isn’t right for you, you can request a refund within 14 days of buying.
